The USDA announced today that the deadline to apply for financial assistance under the Emergency Relief Program (ERP) has been extended indefinitely. This announcement eliminates the previous deadline of July 22, 2022.
Additionally, the USDA will mail pre-filled applications to producers utilizing the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) who might be eligible for ERP payments. Pre-filled applications for most other eligible producers were mailed out in May, though some may continue to receive their applications through August.
Once application mailing is complete, the USDA will announce a new deadline by which all Phase One ERP applications must be received. The new deadline will be at least thirty days after the mailing of applications concludes.
The goal of the ERP is to provide approximately $10 billion to crop producers impacted by natural disasters in 2020 and 2021, in order to offset crop yield and value losses. For more information, click here.
