Celebrating Experience: 20 Years in 2023

This year, several of our team members reached an incredible milestone: twenty years of service with AgriSompo North America. Throughout the year, we interviewed some of these highly dedicated and experienced employees in our 20 in '23 feature. 

As the year comes to an end, we wanted to take a last chance to highlight our 20 in '23 employees and to once again extend our deepest congratulations and gratitude to each of them.

When asked what advice she would give to someone just starting out in life, Becky Cotner, Meeting and Event Manager, suggests they try to enjoy the rollercoaster ride. Life will bring ups and downs, twists and turns, and experiences that will completely turn you on your head. It’s important to laugh as much as possible and keep a big smile on your face.

Dolores Fedelin, Senior Underwriter for the Southwest Region, suggests that when you find “your” job and “your” people, be sure to enjoy them, and prosper. As far as teamwork goes, Dolores says the best teams work together to achieve common goals—a cohesive vision is important to unite everyone together.

When asked about the best manager she’s ever had, Carolyn Hawkins, Underwriting Assistant II for the Southeast Region, says the best supervisor she’s worked with was always willing to help with any problem that came up. She would help fix it, or she would find someone else who could help.

To someone just starting out in his field, Mark Moore, Disputed Claim Specialist, suggests being proactive with your work and thinking outside the box. Don’t be afraid to try a new way of doing something. He believes the best teams communicate well so everyone is on the same page.

Trent Nauholz, Senior Vice President of Analytics, has a simple suggestion – put in the work and good things will happen. Whether it’s your work life or personal life, if you do the work necessary to be successful, success will find you.

Asked what piece of advice she would give to someone just starting out in the business, Lori Newell, Technical Operations Manager, says to “aim high, work hard, and reach for the stars -- you don’t really know your capabilities until you put them to the test.”

If she could give a new employee a piece of advice she’s personally learned from, Melissa Williams, Vice President of Policy Services and Specialty Underwriting, would suggest putting yourself out there! Just jump in and do your best. Failure doesn’t matter; it’s just a part of life. Learn from it and get back to work.

If he could go back in time and give his younger self a piece of advice, Brooks York, Director of Producer Services, would suggest doing the small things well each and every day. Don’t worry about taking over the world or achieving your next promotion — just do one thing at a time and do it to the best of your ability.
